Romantic AI

Romantic AI is a companion platform built around actual relationship progression, dating-sim-style stages, a companion diary, and personality sliders.

What is Romantic AI

This one leans into the dating part of AI dating harder than most. You pick from around 40 to 50 pre-made companions, girlfriends, boyfriends, anime types too, or skip the roster and build your own, and the relationship actually moves through stages the longer you keep at it. Four sliders- humor, emotionality, playfulness, empathy- shape how a character talks, so two who look identical on the outside can feel like completely different people once you start chatting. It remembers things too. Mention you’re into pineapple pizza and don’t be shocked when that comes back up a few days later. There’s a companion diary tracking how the relationship’s going, plus a small marketplace where community-made characters sit alongside the official ones. NSFW mode is here, and it’s mostly a chat thing, not a visuals thing; images run through a separate Hearts currency that’s not part of the subscription. No voice, no video, just text and photos for now, which is a noticeable gap next to some competitors.

Pros and cons

What’s good

  • Relationship progression genuinely feels different from a static chat companion
  • The personality sliders change how a character comes across, not just window dressing
  • Free tier lets you poke around without a card, and signup takes maybe two minutes

What’s not

  • No voice or video at all, text and images only
  • Hearts for images sit outside the subscription, so the real cost can sneak up on you
  • Character library is smaller than what a lot of bigger competitors offer
