This is driving me crazy, can anyone please help me out here?

I've used FD to develop in the past(maybe 6 mos ago), and everything worked fine. I recently returned to FD to work on a new project, and now it refuses to trace and I have "waiting for flash player to connect to debugger" which sits at the bottom of the screen and slowly fills up until I get a "No debug Flash player connection request" message.

I've dug around in the forums, read some other posts, done a clean install of FD to the latest build with all settings at default except for a few libraries in my class path, updated my Java, mucked around in project settings, ensured that I'm building in debug mode, and nothing works...can anyone please help me understand what I'm missing here??

Thanks...

This might be that your firewall blocks FlashDevelop and/or Java communication. Please check your firewall program access settings.

Solved:
set flash debugger settings to point to "other machine" then set "other machine" ip to 127.0.0.1

My pleasure.

First, make sure you have the flash debug player installed (available here: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html)

If you've got the debugger installed, go ahead and run your project from within FlashDevelop as normal. When the Flash Player comes up with your project in it, right click anywhere inside the flash window, and you'll see an entry in the context menu called "Debugger" - click on this and it will pull up your debugger connect settings (sometimes when you do this, the context menu will disappear and the debugger settings will fail to open, just do it again and it should open. Also, sometimes flash player will crash as soon as you do this, but generally, you can kill it and the settings should be active next time you run it.)

Good luck!

Yup this is quite a complicated problem where you have to look into it carefully to get the issue solved.
