We will (or atleast try) port FD to Mono so that it would be available to other platforms also.
The current Mono Winforms implementation is not fully ready so we will do this later on.

I just checked it and it's very close now. It's really almost complete.

Great !
I'm really impatient to be able to run FD everywhere. That's the only thing missing for me.
Happy new years guys.

The command line tools already work perfectly on Mac (FDBuild, IGen). But mono's WinForms is still not ready to run FD, even on Windows.

SEPY & SciTE have been both ported on Mac and use the Scintilla control.
wxWidgets (ported as wxNet in mono) also include an editor component derived from Scintilla on all supported platforms.
That doesn't mean it will be easy - but we are even more concerned by the WinForms implementation in mono...

 Re: FD on mac
With the new Intel-based Mac, you can run both Windows XP and Mac OS X natively!

 any progress on Mac?
...not that my whining will do any good...
...or that I even have a right to whine...
I just need an OS X AS editor soon, and I don't want learn the ins and outs of Xcode, so should I hold off a bit? Is it arriving right around the corner (May!?), or sometime in the summer or fall? (Yes, that is the sound of me panting with anticipation.)

There's no possible way to predict a release date until Mono's WinForms are complete. I'm sure Phillipe and Mika are all ready to jump into this project, but it's just not possible right now.

Moreover, FlashDevelop seems to work fine, right now, on Mac-Intel notebooks.
