FlashDevelop is now 10 years old and what is a better way to celebrate it than release a brand spanking new FlashDevelop with plenty of new features and improvements!

We need you to test upgrading from old versions, even if we highly suggest doing a clean install as you could miss out new features that are not enabled by default when upgrading. And off course, all the new feats. Please post bugs, suggestions and questions directly to this thread. We will post follow ups when new feats or fixes are available. Once again, big thanks go to our awesome contributors and supporters, thank you!

You can download the development (FD5) release from: http://www.flashdevelop.org/downloads/builds/

On my system, the fdbuild.exe is now detected as a potential virus by F-Prot Antivirus.

Also, CTRL-S seems to highlight the word under my cursor, just like a quick search.
[edit] My mistake. The "problem" seems to be the new feature "Highlight Match Words Mode" which highlights anything under the cursor by default... which is SUPER annoying :)[/edit]

As Mika said, this breaks some plugins, for me was the HighlightSelection.dll. In case someone has the unhandled error exception window poping up every time too.

Awesome!!

Stuck on a Mac at the moment but look forward to trying this out. I know this is a silly thing to focus on... but does this include an improvement to be able to Ctrl+Click on a property to go to its definition?

deepnight:

1. The behaviour can be changed from: Settings > Highlight Match Words Mode if you didnt notice. This defaults to same behaviour as in Visual Studio.
2. The fdbuild.exe has been rebuilt, does it still detect it as virus?

bioRex21:

HighlightSelection.dll might interfere the new indicators groups, some of the functionality is now in FD5.

abeall:

Ctrl+Click has not been integrated but its available in QuickNavigate plugin. We are looking into adding 3rd party plugins to Appman for easier access but we are still little uncertain for its security and maintainability.

HighlightSelection.dll still throwing errors (not that I cannot live without it).

I'm having issues with the code formatter and variable declarations with underscore and the begining.

something like:

Code:
private var _mc:MovieClip;

gets changed to (notice the space removal between "var" and "_mc"):

Code:
private var_mc:MovieClip;

However, variables without underscore at the begining are not affected.

Today, I installed FD5. I've overwritten my current version but i get this error 15 times:
Quote:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

at ProjectManager.PluginMain.TreeSyncToCurrentFile()
at ProjectManager.PluginMain.HandleEvent(Object sender, NotifyEvent e, HandlingPriority priority)
at PluginCore.Managers.EventManager.DispatchEvent(Object sender, NotifyEvent e)

I have the duplicate and the quicknavigate plugins installed.

Some questions
1. In FD4 you could double click on a word then it got highlighted in the current file, is this removed?
2. When I now jump to a definition, the current word in that document gets highlighted. Why is this? It stays also highlighted while there is no need to. I rather have 1. back.
3. If I install FD5 development, and there are updates, will it keep me in the development version?
4. I really like the improved search bar
5. I really like the platform support, since I use flambe
6. What has changed in the class wizard? With haxe, it looks the same.

Great job guys!! Looking forward to

mknol:

I will check and try to fix that error, i might need more info if i cant track it.

1 and 2. The behaviour changed, old is: Settings > Highlight Match Words Mode > SelectedWord. This now defaults to same behaviour as in Visual Studio.
2. Updates for FD5? You can install new dev releases on top of old ones, now we are getting ready for final release so dev might add small feats but mostly bug fixes.
4 and 5. Great!
6. See: https://github.com/fdorg/flashdevelop/c ... lassWizard

Looking forward to what? :)

mknol: That crash is now fixed, should be up in few minutes in 5.0.0.16 build.

Hi, this version is looking good.
I works with the following plugins for me:
Assets Packger
Color Box
Config Toggle
Duplicate
Advanced Find & Replace
Interface Suggest
Navigation Bar
Quick Navigate
Trace plugin

The GUI is a liitle has a bit lag with refreshm when compared to V4.7, when opening dialogs, scrolling or doing anything, but it's very small.

Found a bug when opening the Files panel. I got this exception:

System.AccessViolationException:
at- System.Drawing.SafeNativeMethods.Gdip.GdipDrawImageRectI(HandleRef graphics, HandleRef image, Int32 x, Int32 y, Int32 width, Int32 height)
at- System.Drawing.Graphics.DrawImage(Image image, Int32 x, Int32 y, Int32 width, Int32 height)
at- System.Drawing.Graphics.DrawImage(Image image, Rectangle rect)
at- System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripProfessionalRenderer.OnRenderItemImage(ToolStripItemImageRenderEventArgs e)
at- System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripRenderer.DrawItemImage(ToolStripItemImageRenderEventArgs e)
at- System.Windows.Forms.DockPanelStripRenderer.OnRenderItemImage(ToolStripItemImageRenderEventArgs e)
at- System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripRenderer.DrawItemImage(ToolStripItemImageRenderEventArgs e)
at- System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripButton.OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e)
at- System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.HandlePaint(PaintEventArgs e)
at- System.Windows.Forms.ToolStripItem.FireEvent(EventArgs e, ToolStripItemEventType met)
at- System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.OnPaint(PaintEventArgs e)
at- System.Windows.Forms.Control.PaintWithErrorHandling(PaintEventArgs e, Int16 layer, Boolean disposeEventArgs)
at- System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmPaint(Message& m)
at- System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m)
at- System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m)
at- System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip.WndProc(Message& m)
at- PluginCore.Controls.ToolStripEx.WndProc(Message& m)
at- System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m)
at- System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at- System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

Also, a suggestion.
This wonderful line in the settings is a good feature:
Image
Maybe you should add in the setting also the time it takes until the word is highlightd.

Other then this, it's looking greate! Thanks for the hard work! :)
