ASCompletion: require space only for binary '-', not unary -

In ASCompletion settings, by default '-' is in the list of Characters requiring whitespace.
I would like to type "x=1+2-3;" and have it automatically completed to "x = 1 + 2 - 3;", this works with default settings.
I would also like to type "x=f(-1);" and have it completed o "x = f(-1);" (no space between "(" and "-"), however with default settings the result is "x = f( -1);"

Strangely, in this example space appears only on the left of '-', does it mean '-' is detected as unary?
Is there any easy way to add unary minus to Characters not requiring whitespace?

Inline reformatter is a big buggy around unary operations - it needs to be improved...
